Rev. Bob Lawrence became our Executive Director in August, 2013. Bob had been an active member of our Board of Directors for a little over 3 years before he took this position. While on the Board, Bob served as our Treasurer for over 2 years.
Bob is an ordained United Church of Christ minister who is also serving as the Pastor at OpenTable UCC in Owasso, OK. Bob is the former pastor of Community of Hope UCC in Tulsa, and was the Administrative Director for New Spirit Community Church in Berkeley, CA, a new church start affiliated with the MCC, UCC, and DOC denominations.
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Bob received his Master of Divinity degree from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA in 2009 and promptly moved to Tulsa to serve Community of Hope UCC as their Pastor.
Since arriving in Tulsa, Bob has been involved in a variety of activities and Boards, including United Campus Ministry at TU, Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry, Oklahoma Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, and the AIDS Coalition of Tulsa (which awarded him the Evergreen Spirit Award in 2011).
Bob was one of two ministers to represent the state of Oklahoma at the Human Rights Campaign’s Clergy Call Conference in Washington, DC in 2011, where Bob and his colleague lobbied every member of the Oklahoma congressional delegation on matters of importance to people of faith in Oklahoma.
He has also received national recognition by the organizers of the 2002 United States Conference on AIDS at which he was designated a “Life-Sized California Hero” for his work helping faith communities develop a compassionate response to HIV/AIDS.
